Coille Bheag is a six-acre family croft with two properties for rent, situated on the shores of Loch Ewe in the western Highlands of Scotland. It's part of the crofting village of Inverasdale, near Poolewe and Gairloch in the Wester Ross region.
Ideally placed for walking, fishing, cycling, boating, watching wildlife or just relaxing, it has spectacular views of the mountains of Wester Ross, including the Great Wilderness and Torridon ranges. Because there's no street lighting for miles, we also enjoy unrivalled dark skies without fear of light pollution and on clear nights you have an incredible view of the Milky Way - if you're lucky you might even see the aurora borealis (Northern Lights)! Coille Bheag is only a few minutes' drive away from the world-famous Inverewe Gardens, as well as many wide sandy beaches and private little coves like the one below..
Enjoy the wealth of local walks......even at the height of summer, you may not see another soul all day!

Coille Bheag offers two different kinds of accommodation - the traditional rustic charm of The Cottage and the more modern, luxurious and eco-friendly Scandinavian style of The Lodge. choose whichever suits your family requirements! Both properties enjoy the same splendid view of the loch and the mountains. you are free to enjoy our acre of woodland and wildflower meadow, or wander as you please on the croft or by the loch shore. Both are completely self-contained detached cottages offering total privacy, and the croft itself offers plenty of off-road car parking and space to wander..
The Cottage is a 150-year-old traditional crofter's cottage, or "croft house", which has been carefully refurbished whilst retaining much of its original rustic character. The 3-bedroom cottage has electric heating, an open fire, a cosy parlour, modern kitchen/dining room, a conservatory and can comfortably accommodate a party of four adults, although it can sleep up to six people plus baby! (we can supply cot & highchair on request)
Ideal for family holidays, the cottage welcomes children and pets and allows smoking - in the conservatory only. Find out more about the Cottage here.
The Lodge is a luxury 2-bedroomed house with energy-efficient central heating, wooden floors and vast picture windows overlooking the loch and mountains, with integrated living area and upper mezzanine. Ideal for a romantic getaway or for small families, it sleeps up to four but we're sorry - no pets or smoking. Find out more about the Lodge here.

Our croft is a family business, run by us - husband-and-wife Alasdair Wright and Clare O'Brien with the help of our teenage sons Callum and Ruairdhri. WWe live and work nearby - our home is some distance away across the croft from the Cottage and the Lodge. You can have total peace and quiet during your stay, but we're here if you need us to help with anything..
You'll meet our family pets - champion
mousers Rag and Daisy...
...and Sirius the friendly Newfoundland.
Coille Bheag also grows its own organic produce, all grown without chemical fertilisers or pesticides, and which you can buy direct from us in season...
...we also supply several of the local restaurants, pubs and hotels with our salad and summer vegetables. There are usually also eggs from our
flock of free-range hens.
