The cottage at Coille Bheag

"Our first time this far north and west - what a wonderful week! Coille Bheag provided beautiful views from the conservatory, a great variety of informative reading material and a delicious salad mix, and free range eggs. Thank you so much - we hope to come again." Ken, Vicki, Rich & Nancy, Pennsyulvania, USA (June 2007)

"We enjoyed our stay here very much - especially the view from the conservatory ... the landscape is just wonderful and we went on walking tours with beautiful sunshine. We had a great time!" - Peter & Ingrid, Westhalen, Germany (July 2007)

"We've had a great fortnight enjoying the magnificent scenery and wonderful beaches. Some of us managed to spot otters, sea eagles and golden eagles, and also mountain hares. Simon went photo stalking with the Torridon Ranger and had a great day getting close up to red deer...the cottage was very comfortable." - Penson family, South Warwickshire and Malvern (August 2007)

"We had a great week of really changeable classic west coast weather, moody skies, rainbows and even some sun! Lovely to see the autumn colours and to hear the stags roaring in the glens. ..it was lovely to come "home" each day to a lovely cottage, to enjoy the fantastic view and relax in front of the fire. Lovely comfy bed, too." - Katie & Calvin, Isle of Man (October 2007)

"Really enjoyed the superb views and the wildlife. Visited the fantastic beaches at Mellon Udrigle and Gruinard Bay - deserted at this time of year. Enjoyed getting up and going to watch the otters and bird life along the side of the loch before breakfast, and sitting in the conservatory watching the sky change - partricularly during the gale on Thursday! Hope to be back again before too long". - Wendy & Helen, Yorkshire (November 2007)

"A fantastic week! Enjoyed the buffeting, the shared meals together, the porridge - oh yeah, and the hills. A beautiful place in which to shed layers of Edinburgh stress bult up over 2006. Here's to 2007! " Nina, Kieran, Eric, Sue & Mike ,Edinburgh (January 2007)

"Beautiful cottage in superb location for viewing loch and mountains in all their moods. Guess what - we will be back! Thanks for a lovely, relaxing and exciting holiday." Alan, Vivien, James & Rosemary, Cheshire (April 2007)

"My second stay in Coille Bheag - as lovely as I remembered. Welcoming friendly hosts, superb views and a cosy, warm, comfortable cottage. A home from home - thank you. Love the new sofa and the kitchen is great! Dogs Lucie & Kate very happy to be here again! " Linda & Donna, West Country (April 2007)

"Our first stay at Coille Bheag after decades of coming north in May, and what a find! Such wonderful views from the conservatory, constantly changing with the light, it was at times hard to leave it! The cottage is comfy and snug and what a joy to have good TV reception! - Doug & Hilary, Birmingham (May 2007)

Some comments taken from our visitors' book at The Lodge (opened autumn 2007) at Coille Bheag:

"Have enjoyed the light and views of The Lodge. The heating has rarely been on -- clearly the ecological nature of the building has made this possible. We really love this area and our visit here has confirmed this once again" - Pat & Frank, Stirling (October 2007)

"My son and I enjoyed this haven of peace and quiet. We sat in silent enjoyment, watching the tides come and go, ebb and flow. Solitude is a precious thing that we savoured and greatly appreciated in this lovely place"- John Snr and John Jnr, Durham (October 2007)

"We have had a superb week here in this our new favourite place in the world. We have had excellent walks, excellent meals, and the lodge-house has capped the experience!"- Ruth & Brian, Fife (October 2007)

"Fluffy towels, comfy beds and a beautiful view. We came away for a few days of relaxation and are now thinking we should have booked to stay longer"- Jo & Steve, Wiltshire (November 2007)

"We have had a relaxing week enjoying the peace and quiet. The lodge is situated in an ideal spot, views of hills constantly changing. Plenty to do in the area. "- Ron, Nancy & Laura, Huntley (December 2007)

"A nice quiet spot...plenty of scenery to investigate...Firemore Beach is truly unique with its smooth, untrodden red and yellow sands - even if parts of it had ice on it as well! The view from the Lodge was best during a gale, the loch waves appear to wash away from the land, which gives the impression of the lodge sailing into the wind."- Reuben, April & Willow, Edinburgh (January 2008)

"The Lodge has been such a great place to stay - warm, modern but so comfortable and so very light and spacious. The lovely windows make the most of the wonderful views, although we have been truly blessed with the fantastic weather this week and have been able to make the most of getting out and about, exporing the spectacular surrounding landscape and tremendous beaches. We feel completely and totally relaxed now! "- Hayley & Rob, Peinchorran, Skye (February 2008)

"The Lodge windows are a bit like a box of chocolates - you never know what you're going to get - but you will enjoy it! With a couple of otter sightings in the loch and a golden eagle being blown across it in seconds by a gale, it was a great week in a spectacular place "- doominic, Lucy & Luke, Burnham, Bucks (February 2008)

"what a great time we have had! It took us a couple of days to get used to the silence, we crept around crying not to spoil it! Only the hooded crows and the chickens seemed to make a sound. We walked along the road to Firemore Beach, it's not far for an afternoon stroll and the views change every ten feet. There are loads of beautiful places to explore...the Lodge was so cosy and warm, with everything you could possibly need. "- Steve & Liz, Warwickshire (Marchy 2008)
