click on the pictures to see larger The Lodge at Coille Bheag is a brand new architect-designed luxury timber eco-cabin, built to the very latest energy-saving specifications for heating, lighting and insulation. The Lodge is set in six acres of working croft land on the shores of Loch Ewe in the western Highlands of Scotland. First opened in autumn 2007, The Lodge is available all the year round and with its eco-friendly insulation and heating is ideal for a cosy winter holiday, summer break or romantic getaway. It enjoys the same remote rural location as our very popular croft cottage, but offers a higher level of Scandinavian-style comfort and luxury. Now booking - see our new prices for 2007/2008! Ideally placed for walking, fishing, boating, watching wildlife or just de-stressing, it commands spectacular views of the mountains of the Great Wilderness and the Torridons through its large double-glazed picture windows. The Lodge is also only a few minutes' drive away from the world-famous Inverewe Gardens, which can be seen on the opposite shore or the loch. The Lodge has electric heating but you will find the house's excellent level of insulation means you will probably only need to use the heating in the coldest weather. Its clean wooden floors and no-pets policy make it ideal for those with allergies, too. The Lodge can comfortably accommodate up to four people (plus baby in cot or extra person on foldaway bed). Like The Cottage, The Lodge has its own off-road parking area (all cars left at guests' own risk), direct pedestrian access to the loch's pebble shore and welcomes children of any age, although we regret that we cannot accept pets in The Lodge - if you have animals, book The Cottage instead! Click here for details of rates, check availability here or e-mail us with your booking enquiry. If you're not sure about anything, just ask! No obligation to book. |
The living space is a large open-plan area on the ground floor with a high cathedral ceiling, polished wooden floor and huge windows commanding spectacular views of Loch Ewe and the mountains beyond. It is comfortably furnished and features satellite TV, radio and DVD/CD player. A library of DVDs and CDs are also available for you to enjoy during your stay! The spacious kitchen/dining area adjoins the living area and is fully equipped with large butler sink, polished wood work surfaces, electric cooker and extractor hood, microwave, large fridge/freezer, spacious cupboards, automatic washing machine, toaster, kettle and ironing board/iron. In the dining area there is a full-size polished wood dining table and chairs and all cookware, crockery, glassware and cutlery is provided. When you arrive, you'll find the kitchen cupboards stocked with tea, coffee, sugar and seasonings, and we provide a welcome pack - a complimentary bottle of wine, litre of milk, and a small sample selection of our own organic produce when in season. You can order more fresh produce from us any time during the growing season. We have fresh salad and herbs year-round. If you give us your order, we'll also do any other local shopping you require and put it in the kitchen ready for your arrival. Come for Christmas week, and we'll even throw in a free Christmas tree from our own renewable woodland to put you in the mood for celebrating!

Outside (in summer) is a picnic table (sunloungers also provided!) where you can enjoy meals al fresco, but also you are very welcome to enjoy the rest of the croft and to walk down to the loch shore. The shower room is situated on the ground floor off the entrance hall, and features electric shower, shaver point, washbasin and lavatory. A good stock of towels - and magazines - is provided! There is also a storage cupboard in the hall with clothes airer, ironing board and broom, plus space to hang your outdoor clothes. The main double bedroom is on the upper mezzanine. It is a spacious, galleried sleeping loft with a designer leather-upholstered king-size bed and double wardrobe, offering total privacy and commanding views of the hills, meadows and woodland bordering Loch Ewe. There is also a selection of books for your enjoyment during your stay. Downstairs there is a further double bedroom with an iron bedstead and pine bedroom furniture, commanding its own views over the village of Inverasdale. All beds are made up for you when you arrive and there is spare bedding available should you require it. A travel cot and high chair can be provided on request. Coille Bheag is part of a scattered crofting settlement along the shores of Loch Ewe. Summer nights at Coille Bheag stay twilit until almost midnight... |
