The
Cottage
is a traditional 19th century stone-built Highland
croft
house.
It's
set in six acres of working croftland, on the shores of Loch Ewe
in the western Highlands of Scotland.

Ideally
placed for walking, fishing, boating, climbing, watching wildlife or
just relaxing, it has spectacular views of the mountains of the Great
Wilderness and the Torridons.
We
enjoy beautiful sunrises, sunsets and moonrises...

,
and we're within walking distance of some lovely sandy beaches.

The
cottage has its own enclosed garden area, plus ample parking (all
cars left at guests' own risk), and pedestrian access to the loch's pebble
shore.

We
welcome children of any age plus pets. The croft is fully
enclosed and fenced.
Although
carefully restored, Coille Bheag has retained many of its original features
and rustic character and is open all the year round.

The
living room has a compact Aga stove which burns coal or wood, set
in the original old stone fireplace. The room has a TV and DVD/CD player
as well as sofa, coffee table and two armchairs. You
can browse through books from Coille Bheag's library, too - many
on local history and geography. A range of DVDs & CDs is also
available.

The
spacious modernised kitchen/dining room is fully equipped with electric
cooker, microwave, fridge, freezer, cupboards, automatic washing machine,
toaster and ironing board/iron.
There
is a dining table and six chairs, and all cookware, crockery,
glassware and cutlery is provided. If
you give us your order, we'll also do any other local shopping you
require before you arrive..
We
provide tea, coffee and sugar, and as a welcome to you, we provide
a bunch of fresh herbs plus local paper, Radio Times,
fresh milk and a bottle of Fraoch, the local heather ale.

You
can order more fresh produce - including eggs from our chickens -
any time during the season. We have fresh salad and herbs year-round.

Come
for Christmas week, and we'll even decorate a free Christmas tree
from our managed woodland to put you in the mood for celebrating!
The
bathroom is at ground-floor level, and has double glazing, electric
wall heater, full-size bath, electric shower, shaver point, washbasin and
lavatory. A good stock of towels is provided.
The
cottage has electric panel heaters in each room to supplement the wood
stove in the living room, and can accommodate up to six people plus
baby.
There
is also a heated conservatory area where you can put your feet up
and enjoy panoramic views, or enjoy breakfast on a sunny morning.
Outside
is an enclosed garden area (deckchairs provided) but you are very
welcome to enjoy the rest of the croft and walk down to the loch shore.

The
main double bedroom is in what used to be the old front parlour on
the ground floor, giving easy access for those with limited mobility. It
has a king-size iron bedstead and many original furnishings and features.
.

Upstairs
there are two further bedrooms - converted traditional sleeping
lofts with sloping attic ceilings and double-glazing for warmth.
One
is a double bedroom and one a single, with a second full-size pull-out
bed if required to make a twin room.
There's
also a walk-in storage area where you can find extra wardrobe space
as well as spare bedlinen and other useful items.

There's
a big box full of toys, board games and jigsaws to help children
while away the odd rainy afternoon.
Beds
are made up for you and there are spare blankets and hot-water
bottles should you need them!
A
travel cot (bring bedding) and high chair can be provided
on request.
