Our beloved wolfhound Hamish came to the end of his life last week after a short illness. The first picture above is the last we have of him, taken by a guest at the door of the Cottage. Hamish was the gentle giant who loved to greet all our guests and featured in almost everyone's holiday snapshots as well as in our own publicity for the croft activities. We will all miss him so much.
Nature may still be mostly asleep, but there are signs that winter is drawing near to its close as we've been enjoying a succession of sunny, clear days in our part of the Highlands. Both our houses are currently inhabited by guests enjoying the beautiful weather, but we have plenty of vacancies in February and March for anyone looking for a bargain early break! It may be chilly outside, but The Cottage and The Lodge offer plenty of cosy warmth and comfort.
In common with much of the rest of Scotland and the wider UK, we've been shivering in the big freeze - but as of today, we're happy to report that the snow is melting! Some wonderful dawn colours in the sky today, still some icy conditions here and there but it looks like things are warming up.
Given the latest upheavals in the wacky world of social media, we've decided that we no longer want to use Elon Musk's X or any of Mark Zuckerberg's Meta platforms to share news about Coille Bheag. Instead, we'll be posting them here on our own website on this, our brand new blog page! If you'd like to know more about the reasons for our decision, you can read about it HERE. We hope you understand and that you enjoy the content we'll be sharing here. Happy 2025!
